Ibiza is known for being the party island and that’s true, but if you come with your family we assure you there are many things to do in Ibiza with kids.
You will all have a great time!
Some tips before travelling with kids to Ibiza
Don’t forget…
- First of all, everything you need to protect yourself from the sun. Very important for children and adults.
- High protection sun cream
- Hats, caps
- Sunglasses
- Long-sleeved swimming shorts. Childrens will spend a lot of time in the water.
- For fun
- Diving masks. They don’t take up much space in your suitcase and you’ll have a great time discovering the wonders hidden in the crystal clear waters of Ibiza.
Rent a car
If you really want to enjoy the many things to do with children in Ibiza that we recommend in this post it would be a good idea to hire a car. Public transport is not as effective or as regular as you would like for such a touristy island.
Rent a camper van
If you are an adventurous family, there is no better plan than to travel around the island in a camper van. We assure you that you will have a great time discovering every corner of the island.
Book in advance
The earlier you book both accommodation and car or van hire, the cheaper it will be. This actually happens in all tourist places but in Ibiza, where prices are high, you will notice the difference.
Where to stay
The answer it’s shorter if I let know where not to stay.
Basically don’t stay in the party areas like San Antonio and Playa de Embossa.
The rest of the island is much quieter than you expect and there is a wide range of accommodation for families.
We really like the Talamanca area since it is close to Ibiza city and also has a very nice beach. We also like Port
Things to do in Ibiza with kids – The best beaches to go with kids in Ibiza.
If there is one thing the island of Ibiza is known for, apart from the partying, it is for having dream beaches and coves. Here we will recommend you the best ones to go with children because they are easy to access and because they have some activities that you can enjoy with your family or the children on their own while you rest for a while. 🙂
Salinas Beach
Located in the south of the island, this beautiful and wide beach is an important part of the natural park of Ses Salines.
If you like walking, we recommend you to walk all along the beach to reach some beautiful coves at the end of the beach. They are very small coves. If you arrive early you can make yourselves masters of the cove. We assure you that it is a great plan to do with children who don’t mind walking and discovering.
Port Des Torrent Beach
Undoubtedly one of the most familiar beaches of Ibiza and very protected from the prevailing winds on the island during the summer, so you will always find very calm and crystal clear waters.
It has a large car park at the south entrance of the beach so you will not take long to find parking.
Close to the parking there is a small supermarket “El Paso” where you can buy everything you need to stay on your towel.
There are beach bars at the foot of the beach where you can have a drink while the children are having fun on the sand.
Pedalos are available for hire.
What child doesn’t like to ride a pedal boat with a slide?
Very close to Port Des Torrent is the Sirenis Aquagames water park (which we will talk about later). We have the whole day enjoying the beach in the morning and the park in the afternoon.
Cala LLonga
The beautiful beach of Cala LLonga offers all the comfort and services you could wish for. There are umbrellas and sun loungers at very good prices (compared to other places in Ibiza) as well as a wide range of restaurants and beach bars right on the beach.
We have added this beach to the list of the best beaches in Ibiza to come with children because, as well as being beautiful and easily accessible, it has a small children’s playground on the beach, right on the sand. Swings, castle, slides and even some shaded picnic tables to relax and have a snack while watching the children enjoy themselves and use up their energy before falling asleep at night.
Cala Bassa
A beach with truly spectacular water, fine sand and very easy access. You can, as an extra activity with older children, reach a beautiful cave with a large opening to the sky, which is precisely where you are going to enter. It is located to the right of the beach, about 80 metres after the end of the sand. You will have to walk a bit on rock with the children, but once you discover this beautiful place I assure you that they will love the pirate’s cave ;). You can also go swimming… but that’s for the more adventurous ones. Flip-flops or sandals are absolutely necessary to walk on the rock.
There is only one huge restaurant in the cove, the CBBC, which occupies almost the entire beach. The price is high but there is also a small place on the left side of the beach “El Chiringuito”, where you can order a pizza for the family or a hamburger for a good price.
To ensure calm and crystal clear water where the children can swim in complete peace of mind, we recommend that you look at a wind forecast app, such as Windy. If the forecast for the following day is that the wind is from the east …. you will have to go west. When the wind is expected from the north, go to the south of the island. In other words, always go to the opposite side of the island to where the wind is coming from.
By following this advice you will be 95% sure that you will arrive at the beach and the water will be postcard perfect. 🙂
Things to do in Ibiza with kids – Stroll around Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s fortified town
It’s probably unnecessary for me to put it on this list because you were going to go anyway…but I had to put it here because I once recommended things to do in Ibiza to a friend and I didn’t tell him about Dalt Vila because I considered it “obvious” and he didn’t go to this beautiful and atmospheric 16th century fortified town. He missed out on a super stroll through its narrow cobbled streets full of atmosphere and joviality.
Kids will have a great time discovering the castles, the cannons and the many clues that Dalt Vila offers of having been a place of pirates (and I assure you that it still is).
A family photo from the top of Dalt Vila with the sea in the background is a must. To frame at home.
The only statue in the world dedicated to the corsairs can be found on the port’s Paseo Marítimo. What child doesn’t like a pirate?
A family stroll through a beautiful fortified city full of history that will leave you wanting more.
Things to do in Ibiza with children – discover Formentera
This small island is just a stone’s throw from Ibiza. Just twelve miles away. By ferry it takes between 20 and 35 minutes and is undoubtedly one of the best things to do with children in Ibiza.
It is a full day excursion for the whole family that you can’t miss.
Once on the island you will have to hire a car to drive around the island, which is no more than 20 km long and has some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean.
If kids like to ride bikes, you can also rent bikes at the port of Formentera and cycle to the famous and spectacular beach of Illetes. In about 15 minutes you will be in the Caribbean of Europe. It is a very nice ride along the beach.
Don’t forget to bring water and food. Theres is no supermarket on the beach but fancy restaurants.
If you go by car you can’t miss the beautiful village of San Francesc in the centre of the island. You can have a drink while the children play in the square in front of the beautiful and very special church. Tell the children that the church has no windows (just a hole at the top to let the air in), because that is where the inhabitants took refuge when they were besieged by pirates.
The ferries leave from the port of Ibiza. I recommend that you buy tickets for the ferry that has a terrace, it is the smallest, the one that takes the longest (there is no rush on holidays) but you will enjoy the views of Ibiza with your family and the beautiful arrival at Formentera …. and it is also the cheapest. The other ferries are closed and I think it’s much nicer to go outdoors with children and enjoy the views.
Things to do in Ibiza with kids – A morning at one of the famous Hippy Markets
There are many street markets in Ibiza. A stroll around the stalls and enjoying the atmosphere is always a great family activity in Ibiza.
We believe the famous Las Dalias and Punta Arabí markets are the best ones to enjoy with the kids.
You will discover the many colourful stalls together. There are always activities for the youngest members of the family such as painting and craft workshops.
Punta Arabí
April to October: Open Wednesdays from 10 am to 18:30 pm.
Las Dalias
In June, July, and September open every Saturday from 10 am to 20 pm. Also open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 19:00 pm to 1:00 am.
In August open from 10:00 am to 20:00 pm every Saturday and Sunday.
We recommend you to go to any market as early as possible in order to park easily and enjoy the stalls with less hustle and bustle.
Things to do in Ibiza with kids – Acquarium Cap Blanc
It is not just another acquarium as it is locate in a small natural cave that has been renovated to shelter autochthonous marine species. It is a little known site that delights young and old alike. We assure you that it will surprise you.
There is a small terrace at the entrance where you can have a snack before or after enjoying the aquarium.
It is located very close to san antonio. From Caló des Moro (just after the famous Café del Mar) follow a path that goes along the coast and you will reach the aquarium in a short walk.
Along the summer season it is open from 9.30 am to 22 pm.
It is a perfect plan to enjoy with the family.
Best things to do in Ibiza with kids – Water Park
There are several water parks in Ibiza but Sirenis Aquagames is the one we like the most because it is located near the beach of Port Des Torrent, which we have previously recommended to go with children in Ibiza. Therefore, you can spend the whole day without moving the car. Beach plus water park on the same day. In addition, you can buy just the entrance fee or the entrance fee with buffet included.
In Playa de Embossa you will also find the biggest water park in Ibiza. The Aguamar park is exactly what we imagine when we think of a water park. There are a lot of attractions. You can also relax in the shade between rides and have a rest on the grass and eat a pizza in one of the establishments that the park has to offer. There are also picnic tables where you can rest and have a snack. A water park with everything you need to not leave the park for many hours.
Things to do with the family in Ibiza – Botanical Park
We love this activity to do with children in Ibiza. Because Bilbo Park is much more than a botanical park.
It is also a small planetarium where to enjoy 360º projections as a family. Kids will love it. It will be like a break between baths to look at the stars.
They offer workshops to enjoy and discover the fauna and flora of the beautiful island of Ibiza.
Without a doubt, it’s a lovely activity for the whole family.
Things to do with the family in Ibiza – Amusement Park
The great Piruleto park in Playa de Embossa is a safe bet for a great time with the kids in Ibiza.
They offer an aquatic area, workshops, climbing, zip lines, a play area with slides and a ball park.
In short, a great afternoon with the family.
Treat yourself and rent a catamaran with your family.
Without a doubt a great plan and the best of all the things to do in Ibiza with kids.
Yes, we say that we are dedicated to this, but we assure you that it will undoubtedly be the best day of your family holiday in Ibiza.
Don’t hesitate to contact us if you decide to take the plunge. We have great discounts for families.
I hope you family will take advantage of all the things to do in Ibiza with kids that I have recommended.
Greetings and enjoy the many plans that Ibiza offers to enjoy with your family.
